Celtic are said to be worried about Kasper Hogh's lack of match sharpness after his big-money arrival from Bodo/Glimt in the summer. The Danish striker started well but has largely struggled to show consistency.
Hogh scored a hat-trick in his second game for the club, but he has not scored since, and he has shown a real proclivity for missing chances. The £11million signing has looked clumsy for the most part, and while he showed some good hold-up play early on, including after that hat-trick, that has gone missing over the last few weeks.
Hogh struggled with an injury, missing three games, and when he returned, he struggled to get hold of the ball, let alone keep it. The Dane has not been in the right positions to receive the ball and give his side an anchor at the top end of the pitch, which has been a problem.
Celtic have been unable to turn games around when things go against them, and getting the ball to stick up the top end of the pitch would certainly help them.
Hogh has linked up with Denmark during this international window, and Celtic will be hoping he returns sharper and ready to make a bigger impact, given they spent what could go on to be a record fee to secure his services.
Journalist Pete O'Rourke has claimed: "I don't think there will be any knee-jerk reactions about Hogh's performances, but they are a bit worried.
"Obviously he picked up an injury which forced him to miss three league games, and since he's come back from that injury, he has looked a bit short of sharpness. He has struggled to impress since returning to the side after that blow. He started on the bench in that most recent Old Firm defeat to Rangers as well and had little impact when he came on.
"Celtic put in a lot of effort to try and sign Kasper Hogh, they spent £11million on him in the summer, so they are hoping he will be a regular goalscorer for them. I think it might be just taking him a bit of time to settle into his new club and Celtic will be hoping that he can find his form sooner rather than later."
The Bhoys attack has been poor since Yang Hyun-jun jetted off for international duty in early September, and the likes of Hogh and Camilo Duran need to step up, even with Yang returning to the frame from next week.
