Three Celtic stars were in international action on Thursday night as the international window rumbles on towards its third week.

The UEFA Nations League action continued on Thursday night, and Mika Baur, Kasper Hogh and Liam Scales were all in action for their respective nations.

Baur made his Germany senior debut in a 2-0 win over Serbia, coming off the bench in the 76th minute. The win saw Jurgen Klopp's men pick up their first three points of the campaign after a draw against the Netherlands and a defeat to Greece.

With Greece drawing with the Netherlands in the other game, Germany moved to within one point of the Netherlands and three points of group leaders Greece.

Elsewhere, Hogh came off the bench for Denmark for the last five minutes, replacing Mikkel Damsgaard. Denmark were 3-2 down against Portugal at the time, and the visitors added another goal to round off a 4-2 win two minutes after Hogh was introduced.

That result, combined with Wales' 2-1 win over Norway in the other game, means Portugal have a healthy six-point lead over all three of the other teams in the group, with Denmark, Norway and Wales now on three points.

Last but not least, Scales returned to the starting lineup for Ireland for their 2-2 draw with Austria, who came from behind, ultimately scoring the equaliser in the 77th minute. Scales started in his natural centre-back role, and in a back three, and he played 62 minutes before giving way to Liam Kitching.

RTE's player ratings gave Scales a 5/10, reasoning: "The Celtic defender played on the left side of the back three and enjoyed his best moment of the game when he slid in to block down Xaver Schlager in the box, as the Austrian midfielder prepared to cross at close range. His partnership with Manning on that left side never really ignited, but it was functional.

"He mistimed one or two tackles and a couple of passes also went astray, but he was generally dependable before making way for Liam Kitching just after the hour."

Ultimately, Scales will be able to argue that he went off at 2-0, with a clean sheet intact, and after his departure, Austria managed to score twice and land a point. Scales will be pleased to have played in the centre-back position after playing an unusual wing-back role in his last start for his nation.
