This summer could be one of change for Celtic. The fans saw Brendan Rodgers' side lose the Scottish Cup final at the hands of Aberdeen, merely weeks after defeating them 5-1 in their own backyard. But based on the performance at Hampden Park, perhaps the Hoops did not deserve to win. They appeared to play it safe and lacked any real creative spark in the absence of Jota and Reo Hatate.

Kasper Schmeichel made a mess of things in goal as well. He scored an own goal and failed to save any of Aberdeen's spot kicks. Naturally, questions are being asked about his place as a starter next season.

On the other hand, Celtic look set to make a change in the goalkeeping ranks. It is not going to have much of an effect on the first-team picture though.

As reported by the Glasgow Times, Celtic have informed Scott Bain that he can depart on a free transfer. With just 12 months remaining on his contract, the third-choice goalkeeper's agreement with the club will be cut short.

Bain has been at Celtic for a long time. He first arrived during Rodgers' first stint at Parkhead and was the starter at one point. But that did not last long.

For the majority of his time at Celtic, he has been a backup goalkeeper. Now, at 33 years of age, it looks like he is keen to play first-team football and the Hoops seem open to helping him find that by cutting short his contract and letting him leave on a free transfer.

On the other hand, it looks like the club already have a replacement lined up. There have been suggestions that a pre-contract has been agreed with Ross Doohan already.
