A lot of changes are expected to be made at Celtic over the coming months. Like every year, there are going to be both incomings and outgoings during the summer transfer window. And on the back of their shaky form in the second half of this campaign, there could be more than one would have imagined even a few months back.
There are a number of players who have struggled for form in recent weeks. One name that falls under that category is that of Jeffrey Schlupp.
Schlupp had looked fantastic following his arrival on loan from Crystal Palace in the winter. The highlight was his excellent performance against Bayern Munich away at the Allianz Arena, as he kept players like Michael Olise and Leroy Sane quiet.
But the Crystal Palace loanee has failed to impress in recent weeks. As a result, the calls for him to be signed on a permanent basis are now fading away and instead, it looks like Celtic have shifted their focus towards keeping Greg Taylor instead.
Celtic player's Parkhead career seems over after new update
It has emerged that Celtic have offered Taylor an improved deal as they make a last-minute attempt to extend his stay in Glasgow. If that happens, then there is very little chance that the club will try to sign Schlupp on a permanent basis, even if he becomes available as a free agent.
We all know who Celtic's first-choice left-back will be next summer. Kieran Tierney is going to return to his boyhood club, having already agreed a pre-contract, when his Arsenal deal runs out. He might just end up winning a Champions League before that happens.
If Taylor does agree to extend and stay, it would make him the cover option for Tierney. And as for Schlupp, there would be no place left for him at Celtic.
