A lot has been made about what Celtic will do in the upcoming summer transfer window. The expectation is that the club will bring in a number of new faces in order to freshen up a squad that has looked a bit stagnant in recent months. But at the same time, it will be important to keep their key players at Parkhead as well. The Hoops seem to be working on that aspect as well.

One of the players whose importance has become very evident in recent weeks is that of Greg Taylor. Even a few weeks back, Celtic fans would have been content to see him depart in the summer.

Jeffrey Schlupp's performance levels have dropped though and Taylor finds himself in the starting XI once again. Against Kilmarnock, he put in an excellent performance, showing what he can still bring to the table.

The issue is, Taylor's current deal is set to run out this summer and with Kieran Tierney set to arrive as a free agent, he was widely expected to leave. But it looks like Celtic are not ready to give up just yet.

Celtic bumper offer confirmed and talks underway

As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic have now tabled an improved deal to Taylor. Talks are underway over a new contract.

It remains to be seen how things play out. It is believed to be a three-year deal that would see a bumper rise in Taylor's wages. But one issue still remains for the left-back.

Tierney will be arriving in the summer and he will surely be the starter in that position. Will Taylor be okay with playing the backup option in his prime years? That is a hurdle that Celtic will need to get past if they want to keep him at Parkhead.
