Celtic are interested in a move for long-term target Fares Ghedjemis, but they are not rushing into a deal. The Bhoys still find themselves in need of a winger as they look to replace Daizen Maeda, who left on a £10million deal to Ipswich Town.

Real Oviedo Haissem Hassan has been heavily linked, and Celtic are said to hold serious interest, but a deal has now been easy to reach, which has been the case for much of the club's business this summer.

The Bhoys have struck just two deals so far, signing Kasper Hogh and Camilo Duran, and that's despite the likely final signing count needing to read seven or eight. More exits are to come, and Martin O'Neill needs help, especially with Champions League qualifiers coming up fast.

Celtic winger option firmly on the table

Celtic remain interested in Hassan, but they are also targeting long-term target Ghedjemis, who is likely seen as an alternative to Hassan.

O'Neill has confirmed the interest, saying: "We have a very, very strong interest in him. I don't know how close we can get, but we are genuinely making really good progress."

According to CetlsAreHere, the Hoops are yet to submit a formal offer, which suggests a deal is not close to being reached at this stage. They also report that Rangers also hold credible interest.

It's likely Ghedjemis will cost around £7million this summer, which is a similar fee to what Hassan is likely to cost. It will be interesting to see who Celtic go with, but it appears Ghedjemis is the primary option.

The 23-year-old represented Algeria at the World Cup this summer, and he has been pretty productive for Frosinone in the second tier of Italian football. The winger has 17 goals and four assists in 58 league appearances.

Clearly, he has an eye for goal, but that is a very low number of assists for a winger, albeit he is still only 23 years of age.
