Celtic are said to be circling back to an old target as they look to improve their winger spots this summer. The Bhoys have been pursuing Real Oviedo winger Haissem Hassan for weeks, but they are yet to make a breakthrough.
As reported today, Oviedo could do with striking a deal to ensure they can make new signings and remain compliant with LaLiga salary rules, but they will only land 60% of the fee due to a Villarreal sell-on clause, so they are not willing to do a deal on the cheap.
Celtic are said to have bid below what Oviedo are looking for, and while the specifics are unclear, it appears as though they are around £1million short. Talks are rumbling on, but in the meantime, Celtic look to be considering another pricey winger.
Celtic considering Ghedjemis deal
According to The Herald, Celtic have circled back to old target Fares Ghedjemis, who has been linked with Rangers this summer. It's claimed the Bhoys are now pursuing the Frosinone winger as an alternative.
The 23-year-old Algerian international is a right winger who can also play on the left, while he can also play the attacking midfield role. He has been competing in Serie B with Frosinone, making 57 league appearances, scoring 17 and providing four assists.
Ghedjemis is valued at around £7million, putting him in a similar price bracket to Hassan, who will likely cost around £6.5million. Frosinone only bought Ghejdemis for less than £300,000, so they are set to make a giant profit on the 23-year-old, who still has plenty of development ahead of him.
That's a factor Celtic require from most of their signings, with the Scottish giants having made big money from their approach over recent years, usually buying younger players and then selling them on for a much bigger fee.
