One of Celtic's primary summer transfer targets is currently training alone amid ongoing transfer speculation. The Bhoys recently confirmed the signing of Kasper Hogh on an £11million deal, but they are going to want to keep adding to their attack, specifically with the signing of a winger.
Hogh and Camilo Duran will take care of the strikers' department, but Celtic are still short of a winger after losing Daizen Maeda to Ipswich Town on an £11million deal.
Martin O'Neill still needs plenty of new signings this summer, keeping in mind Arne Engels and Reo Hatate are likely to leave, but it seems the club is placing plenty of emphasis on the winger position.
Haissem Hassan remains a key Celtic target
Celtic are pushing for a deal to sign Real Oviedo winger Haissem Hassan this summer, with the Egypt World Cup star having impressed in North America this summer. Recent reports have claimed the Hoops are willing to pay around £5.5million, but Oviedo are said to be holding out for more.
Hassan has a £10.2million release clause, and while the Asturias side are likely to accept a deal worth lower than that, Celtic are going to have to pay more than £5.5million.
In the meantime, journalist Pablo Fernandez has reported that Hassan is currently working alone and away from his teammates, and not only that, but he is not on the list of players who will be heading to Germany on a pre-season tour.
The reasons for that are not given, but it's very unlikely it has anything to do with Celtic's ongoing interest in Hassan. The winger's World Cup participation means he did not return to training until Wednesday, and he will need to work his way up slowly before participating in team sessions. That also means he won't be much use in Germany, which is likely why he is staying behind.
That won't stop the rumour mill clicking up an extra gear, but that's not something Oviedo can do much about. In the meantime, talks between Celtic and the recently relegated Spanish club are likely to continue, but a deal is not going to be reached unless the Bhoys up their current offer.
Oviedo also have to keep in mind that Villarreal have a sell-on clause in the deal, so they are not going to be accepting a cheap deal, especially given they are already likely to compromise on the release clause.
