Succeeding at Celtic is not as simple as most people seem to believe. At Parkhead, there is a pressure to win almost every game. And if you fail to perform once or twice, you can find yourself out of first-team plans immediately. Not every player can keep up with those demands, even those with a lot of quality.

Some players are at their best when the pressure is off and they can express themselves a bit more. It looks like that is the case with one former Celtic striker, who is currently flourishing in the Bundesliga and creating history in the German league.

Oliver Burke was brought in on loan to Celtic in early 2019. But soon after his arrival, Brendan Rodgers would leave for Leicester City and his career at Parkhead never really took off. He ultimately managed just four goals for the Hoops.

Burke has had several unimpressive stints at a variety of clubs since then but it is in Germany that he seems to be playing his best football. And recently, he created a couple of records in the Bundesliga.

Burke scored a hattrick in Union Berlin's 4-3 win against Eintracht Frankfurt. In the process, he became the first player in the club's history to score thrice in an away game and the first Scottish player to do so in the Bundesliga itself.

Of course, not many would have expected this kind of form from Burke. Many had already written him off as a striker who was not capable of scoring a lot of goals.

He seems to be doing pretty well right now though. It is only this summer that he joined Union Berlin and it looks like this is the beginning of a good time for the Scottish striker.

Before this, Burke was at Werder Bremen. While he was unremarkable for most of his time there, he did come into his own last season, which is what earned him the move to Union Berlin. Now, at 28 years of age, he might finally be starting to fulfil the potential that he has always had.
