Celtic have not been impressive when it comes to their transfer business in recent times. In fact, they have managed to weaken the squad over the course of the summer, failing to replace quality players they have allowed to leave. Of course, some hopes have been raised in recent weeks, thanks to the performances of Sebastian Tounekti. Kelechi Iheanacho might be exceeding the expectations of a lot of supporters as well, with his link-up play and overall quality, even though he is yet to be fully fit.

Despite that, it would be safe to say that Celtic need to add more quality to their squad. And one of the players they have been linked with in recent times is Raheem Sterling of Chelsea.

Sterling is completely out of plans at Chelsea and is training away from the first-team, with chances of getting any minutes before January close to zero. No professional footballer wants to spend their time in the reserves though.

As reported by Football Insider, Brendan Rodgers could be the pivotal factor in enticing Sterling to leave Chelsea for Celtic. The Northern Irish manager, who worked with him at Liverpool, could be the vital component in attracting the 30-year-old to Glasgow.

There is no doubt that Sterling has been going through a rough patch lately. It was not too long ago that he was considered one of the best wingers in the world.

In fact, in the summer of 2022, he was Chelsea's marquee signing under their new ownership. But constant change in managers and a loss of form have left him in this position.

Of course, Celtic would not be able to sign him on a permanent basis, no matter what. But they could possibly bring him in on loan, if Chelsea are willing to cover most of his salary.
