Quite a few former Celtic players have been linked with returns to Parkhead in recent times and it is not hard to understand why. The club have seemed very open to the line of thinking, having brought back Jota in the winter and will do the same with Kieran Tierney this summer, when his contract at Arsenal runs out.
The likes of Kyogo Furuhashi of Rennes, Odsonne Edouard of Crystal Palace and Kristoffer Ajer of Brentford have all been linked with moves to reunite with Brendan Rodgers at Celtic. There is another club hero who looks set to be available this summer though.
It is believed that Stuart Armstrong's contract at Sheffield Wednesday runs out at the end of this season. Of course, the Scottish midfielder was a key part of Celtic's team during Rodgers' first run as manager at Parkhead.
Since then, he has had a long run in the Premier League with Southampton, went to the MLS and is now back in England, playing for Sheffield Wednesday. Veteran players like him have done well at Celtic in recent times. Aaron Mooy is the perfect example. So, would a reunion make sense for both parties?
Celtic fans don't want club hero's return even for free
Celtic fans do not seem keen on the idea of an Armstrong return, even for free. In fact, only 11.5% were open to the idea on a poll we ran recently.
Would you want Stuart Armstrong back on a free transfer this summer?

This is a similar trend we have noticed in recent times. It was the same case with Kyogo and Edouard as well. It looks like Celtic fans do not want former players to be brought back and are ready to look towards the future instead.
It remains to be seen what the future holds. But it does not look like Armstrong back in a Celtic shirt is a part of it.
