Following the departure of Ange Postecoglou, Celtic have seemed very open to the idea of reuniting with familiar faces. The Australian was replaced by Brendan Rodgers, who was returning for a second stint as the club's manager. Jota was brought back last winter, just 18 months after he had left in a Scottish-record transfer. And in the summer, Kieran Tierney will make his return as a free agent, having already agreed a pre-contract deal.

Other than that, Celtic have been linked with a few other former players as well. Kyogo, Kris Ajer and Odsonne Edouard have all been suggested as potential options for the Hoops heading into the summer transfer window.

It looks like another former Celtic hero could be available this summer as a free agent. And just like Kieran Tierney, he is someone with a ton of Premier League experience under his belt.

As reported by The Star, Stuart Armstrong is out of contract at Sheffield Wednesday at the end of the season. The presence of any extension clauses within his deal are as of yet unknown.

Armstrong made almost 150 appearances during his time at Celtic and was one of their best players during that period of time, making the PFA Team of the Year on a consistent basis. Now, 33 years of age, he is in a different point in his career.

That does not mean that he could not make a positive impact on this team. After all, he was playing regular football in the Championship just a year ago.

Also, it is also worth pointing out how well Celtic's move for Aaron Mooy had worked out a couple of seasons back. Someone like Armstrong could end up having a similar impact on this team if brought in as a free agent.
