Ange Postecoglou is a man of his word. Celtic fans already knew that and Tottenham Hotspur supporters learned it this week as the Australian did the unthinkable and won them a European trophy after 41 years. It was also their first piece of silverware in 17 years, with the previous one being the League Cup in the 07/08 campaign.

Gareth Bale was part of the team that won the League Cup. It was also his only trophy as a Tottenham Hotspur player, despite all the brilliant football he played while at the London club. He did go on to win numerous trophies with Real Madrid, including five Champions League titles.

Coming into the final, the general storyline was that Postecoglou needed to win this trophy in order to hold on to his job, as Tottenham Hotspur sit 17th in the Premier League. But despite their success in Bilbao, Bale appears to believe that the club have a decision to make regarding the Australian's future.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Bale said while talking on TNT Sports Football:

"There’s been so much talk on whether he goes or whether he doesn’t.

“It will be interesting to see now because to win a trophy as the first Tottenham manager to do so in a long time now.

“So I guess the board have some decisions to make. They either back him or they don’t and they have to do it soon."

That was not all either. Bale also talked about Postecoglou's lack of a Plan B on a day that he had guided Tottenham Hotspur, a team that had pretty much forgotten what winning trophies felt like, to European silverware. The Welshman said:

"I like the football that he plays. Obviously he lacks a bit of a plan B, but tonight’s shown there is a plan B. There’s a different side to how he’s played.

“So I guess as a manager, if he also matures as a manager and brings that kind of defensive side to his teams, yeah, of course, he can still have great success here."

Well, it would be safe to say that this lack of a supposed 'Plan B' has never stopped Postecoglou from doing the most important thing in football, that is winning trophies. He won plenty in Australia and Japan, did the same at Celtic and has now even proven all the doubters wrong and delivered at Tottenham Hotspur.

Whatever Postecoglou is doing is clearly working. And it is also what makes him unique. This constant need to ask him to change would make a lot more sense if he were not constantly winning trophies.
