Tottenham is making an Ange Postecoglou realisation Celtic already knows

Tottenham has a serial winner on their hands with Ange Postecoglou, but to Celtic fans, this isn't breaking news at all.

Celtic managers past and present have always been branded as having their success handed to them on a silver platter. While the thought behind this can be understood (given that the Rangers, Celtic's closest competition, are on a much lower level), it doesn't take away from any Celtic manager who achieves success.

Celtic is the biggest team in Scotland by a country mile, and they are immediately placed on a pedestal. But make no mistake about it, Scottish Premiership success isn't easy, and work still needs to be done as Hoops manager.

Besides, we must not forget that Ange Postecoglou had it harder than any of his predecessors at Celtic. He arrived at a time of no hope, but reinvigorated that hope back into the club. That's the sign of a great club, considering he owed nothing to Celtic, but did it anyway.

Ange Postecoglou experienced a whirlwind of emotions at Celtic but without a shadow of a doubt, he was a successful coach. He left the Glaswegian side with two Premierships, two League Cups and one Scottish Cup. Superb collection.

Then, he joined Tottenham Hotspur and in his first season, got them back on the right track. He qualified for the Europa League, just missing out on the Premier League top four. Qualifying for the Europa League set Ange to go out and win it in his second year with Spurs.

Ange Postecoglou receives a lot of criticism from the English press for being a showboat. It's hardly surprising, considering the English media likes to hound anyone who's even slightly confident in their own ability.

In the buildup to the match, Ange Postecoglou was even called a "clown", a statement which he met with his own rebuttal, claiming that he'd never be a clown. While the former Celtic boss might not be a clown, he sure knows how to entertain.

Speaking after the match, Ange Postecoglou said that Daniel Levy, Tottenham's chariman, knows that he's a winner.

“I'd be disappointed if I couldn't continue on this path. Mate, I'm a winner. I've been a winner my whole career," began Postecoglou.

“Even when I signed, Daniel Levy said we went after winners and it didn’t work, now we've got Ange”.

Now, Ange Postecoglou's future remains in the air. It isn't all sunshine and rainbows at Tottenham, given their poor league position. However, Ange remains insistent that this isn't a depiction of where they're at.

However, if Spurs can learn one thing from Ange's first two seasons at Tottenham, it's that he prioritises winning trophies. That's what success looks like to him.

He's had a proven track record of winning things at his previous clubs, Celtic included. It just depends on whether Tottenham value trophies as an indicator of success, which they really should do.
