The international break is now coming to an end, and many Celtic players have been in action. One in particular, Auston Trusty, has earned his plaudits after performing well in his side's match against Portugal.

The USA were beaten 2-0 by their opponents, but Trusty played the entire 90 minutes. Although he was under pressure for much of the game, he managed to hold his own, and he has quickly become a player that many are noting as the standout performer.

Alex Calabrese, editor-in-chief for Men In Red 97, said: "On a positive note from this game, Auston Trusty was excellent as the left centre back. The top performer for the U.S. today defensively, and he probably now secures his spot on the World Cup team."

Other supporters of the national team also agreed that he should play at the World Cup, noting that he looks "comfortable and calm on the ball".

Trusty may be getting praise, but some of it comes because Tim Ream is facing criticism over his performance for the side. The Celtic defender is described as "more mobile" than Ream, with many people saying that there is no reason why he shouldn't start.

Concern for Celtic despite his good performance

There is a concern for the Hoops despite his good performance though, as the player was forced off at the end of the game. Trusty went down with cramp, and he had to be taken off, and hopefully, it'll prove to be nothing more than that.

If it ends up being more serious, Celtic could lose an important player for the match against Dundee on Sunday. Benjamin Arthur and Liam Scales would step up to the call, but it would leave the squad stretched a bit thin.

With Julian Araujo recently joining the injury list, we can't afford to lose any more players. We are entering a very important time in the season, with only two more matches left until the split, and there is no room for error.

After a 2-0 loss to Dundee United last time out, Celtic took a hit in the title race. Currently sitting in third, five points behind Hearts and two behind Rangers, Martin O'Neill's side needs to win every game.

The title race will also have to be balanced with the Scottish Cup, with the Hoops set to take on St Mirren in the semi-final of that competition on April 18. Hopefully, Trusty will be able to play these games, and if he is injured, he will be able to recover quickly.
