Celtic beat St Mirren 1-0 on Saturday, and thankfully, midfielder Arne Engels made his long-awaited return to action. He has been on the sidelines since picking up an injury in February, but now, he is ready to help the Hoops out in the title race.
Supporters are already calling for him to start despite having just come back. Some weren't fond of the starting midfield of Callum McGregor, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and top-scorer Benjamin Nygren, but whether Martin O'Neill will make any major changes is yet to be seen.
Speaking of the manager, he touched on the return of Engels in his post-match press conference.
He said: "That was good, that was really, really good. I thought he'd come on, and I thought he did really well, really fine. Gave us a little bit of stability. Not that he was making lung-bursting runs, but he was just getting himself into it. So that was good considering he's been out for so long."
Speaking about the physicality he brings, O'Neill said: "Yeah, I think that he is a strong lad. You can see why teams are interested in signing him. Particularly, the offer from Nottingham Forest just at the end of the transfer window.
"So he's got a lot to offer, and he's got plenty to look forward to, I think as well. Certainly internationally as well, trying to break into a very strong Belgium side. But overall, I'm just delighted to see him back."
O'Neill confirms McGregor's fitness isn't a concern
McGregor started the game at the weekend, where Celtic picked up an important three points. Playing alongside the Ox and Nygren, there are split opinions on social media. Some people think that he played really well, while others argue that he was miles off it.
Statistically, he had a pretty good game. He didn't make any major mistakes and helped to control the middle of the park, as he has proved time and time again, he is good at.
Thankfully, Celtic seemingly won't lose the captain any time soon, as O'Neill has confirmed that the injury which saw him sidelined for a brief period in March is fully over.
Speaking after the game, the manager said: "That would be great [if the issue is over], yeah. I've got a habit of telling you on a Friday everything is rosy and then coming up and telling you a day later, well, I'm not so sure. I think now, a few days off for him, I think he'll be ready.
"I think psychologically, playing the game today was big news for him. Not that we were saving anybody for a semi-final, not at all. That's there, that's in the next eight days or something. We weren't saving anybody.
"He wanted to play, he wanted to start the game, and he felt okay to start it. So that's good, and I don't think he's done any harm."
Celtic's midfield is looking better than ever, and O'Neill has options aplenty. This will offer a massive boost in the title race and can hopefully push us to the trophy.
