Training images have revealed that Celtic midfielder Arne Engels is back in training after suffering an injury. The player was forced off during the Hoops' 2-1 victory over Livingston at Parkhead, and the squad have been missing him, but it seems a return to action will shortly be on the cards.

Since picking up the injury to his thigh last month, it was estimated that he wouldn't be back on the pitch until late March. We are only 13 days into the month, and he's back with the squad, so it's a promising sign of his progress.

There couldn't be a better time to have him back either, with captain Callum McGregor set to be sidelined for a period of time with a calf injury. Engels could feature alongside the likes of top goalscorer Benjamin Nygren and in-form Reo Hatate, slotting in like he never left.

However, it's unlikely that he will make the team for Saturday's clash against Motherwell. It seems like it may be too soon, but he could be back for Celtic vs Dundee United on March 22.

Kieran Tierney back in training

Kieran Tierney was also pictured in training at Lennoxtown today after it was reported he had also picked up a foot injury. It caused him to miss the Scottish Cup game against Rangers, which Celtic won 4-2 on penalties, but he could return in time for the clash against Jens Berthel Askou's side.

He may not be ready to start, but having him on the bench as an option is a massive boost for the Celts. No one would complain with Marcelo Saracchi or Liam Scales starting at left-back, but Tierney can really change the game after being subbed on.

Big test this weekend

It's set to be a brilliant game on Saturday against Motherwell at Celtic Park. The Hoops face an away side who have defied all expectations this season, currently sitting fourth in the Scottish Premiership.

They have been an incredible side under Berthel Askou and even managed a 2-0 victory over Celtic earlier in the season. They have also recorded results against the likes of Rangers, proving that they deserve to be where they are in the table.

Martin O'Neill's side will need to be at their best if they want to get a result in front of a home crowd, but confidence will be high off the back of a victory over their rivals last time out. Three points are a must if Celtic want to stay in this intense title race.
