Rangers legend Ally McCoist is back in the news again as he has labelled Celtic a 'disgrace' over their stance on away tickets for the Glasgow derby.
Earlier this month, the Gers man went on a rant about how Celtic 'run things' in Scotland after the post-split fixtures were announced. He seemingly had a problem with both teams playing 19 games at home and 19 games away, but he eventually went back on himself, admitting that things will 'never be perfect' when it comes to deciding fixtures.
Now, he has taken issue with the Celts locking out Rangers fans over the Gers being unwilling to ensure that no Union Bears would be given entry.
McCoist said: "I just want to mention quickly, Rangers have asked the SPFL to step in after Celtic refused to give away fans any tickets for the final Old Firm derby of the season unless the Ibrox club’s Union Bears ultras group is banned."
He then said sarcastically: "I think Celtic are absolutely correct in this, and I think they should actually tell Rangers the names of the fans they’d like invited to the game.
"Would Celtic rather do that, and say we want so-and-so and so-and-so, I mean, it’s just embarrassing?"
He continued: "[It] is a shambles. It’s a disgrace, actually.
"Celtic fans come on the pitch at Ibrox, of course, the Rangers fans shouldn’t have come on the pitch and reacted the way they did, but if the Celtic fans didn’t come on the pitch, there wouldn’t have been any trouble at all.
"But to start picking and choosing who they want to come to games? Do me a favour. Plus, the fact it’s not fair, it’s absolutely not fair, and they should get it sorted."
Whining McCoist is letting his allegiance blind him
McCoist is whining in the media about the ban on Gers fans, but it is totally understandable from a Celtic perspective. Why should they let supporters who attacked a staff member on the pitch and threw flares? They shouldn't. It's as simple as that.
Celtic fans should not have gone on the pitch at Ibrox, we can all agree with that, but McCoist trying to argue that "there wouldn't have been any trouble" is utterly laughable. It seems like he's trying to shift the blame from the shameful few among the Rangers support to the entire Hoops fanbase, which is shocking.
Celtic aren't naming each and every individual they want seated in the ground. They are simply demanding that supporters with a history of endangering the Celtic support be banned from entering the ground. If that isn't a fair request to someone, then they're out of their mind.
McCoist is blinded by his allegiances, and it's painful to watch.
