The transfer market is changing and not in Celtic’s favour

It’s always difficult competing with other clubs from bigger leagues when it comes to transfer fees and salaries, to bring in players. It is even tough to compete with English Championship teams at times for Celtic.

The news of the Newcastle United takeover may be exciting for the Magpies’ fans right now, but it could very well have a huge effect on the transfer market and make things more difficult for clubs like Celtic than they already are.

Thus, it is even more important now to recognise and bring in young as well as little known players from around the world, who can develop into first-team stars in the future.

It’s something that the Hoops have a strong track record in, having brought in the likes of Moussa Dembele, Virgil van Dijk, Odsonne Edouard, Kristoffer Ajer and Victor Wanyama in recent years.

Let’s also not forget though that while these kind of signings are important, Celtic are more in need of first-team regulars, ready to make an impact straight away, at this point of time.

Also, with the improvement in football scouting all over the world, it’s going to be increasingly difficult to spot and recruit top players before other clubs.

Thus, it is safe to say that there is a lot of work to be done at this end as well and it will be interesting to see how things turn out for Celtic in this regard. They have definitely brought in quite a few exciting prospects in recent years. But then, they have also struggled to keep hold of many promising players, who have departed for European giants.
