Celtic have strengthened their squad significantly over the course of the summer. And it was expected considering the fact that they had finished the previous campaign without a trophy and 25 points behind the Rangers in the Premiership table.

Thus, the Hoops ended up making twelve signings in the recently concluded summer transfer window with ten of those players arriving on permanent deals while the other two have arrived on loan with an option to buy included in both those deals.

One of the most interesting signings that the Hoops have made this summer is that of Liam Scales. He has been signed after a great spell at Shamrock Rovers when he was one of the best players in the League of Ireland. Now, it will be interesting to see how he adjusts to the Scottish Premiership.

One of Scales’ biggest strength is his versatility and he has revealed that he is comfortable playing in multiple positions. As reported by The Scottish Sun, when asked about his best position, the defender said:

"“I’d say left-sided centre-back or left-back.“Last season with Shamrock Rovers I was playing left wing-back.“I don’t necessarily think I have a strongest position. I think I can cover all areas as strong as each other.”"

Scales can prove to be a great signing for Celtic

It is safe to say that Scales was one of the standout performers in the League of Ireland during his time with Shamrock Rovers. Now, it will be important that he is able to adjust to the Scottish Premiership as well.

Scales is the type of player who is very consistent and will put in a solid performance almost every time he plays. While there are questions about whether he will be able to make the jump to Celtic, there are also those who believe that he is good enough to be a regular starter for the Hoops.

Considering the options that Ange Postecoglou has in his squad at this point of time, it does feel like Scales could be competing with Greg Taylor for the left-back spot this season.
