After the 2020/21 season that Celtic went through, not winning a single trophy and finishing 25 points behind the Rangers in the Premiership table, it was always clear that they needed to make some changes.

As a result, a number of players departed the club over the course of the summer transfer window while many arrived as well. Overall, the club signed twelve players, ten on a permanent basis and two on loan although both those deals have an option to buy included in them respectively.

The last signing of the summer transfer window was that of Cameron Carter-Vickers. For months the club had been linked with him but it did not look like a move was on the cards. That changed late on though and a move was announced just minutes before the summer transfer window slammed shut.

Kenny Dalglish appears to have been impressed by Carter-Vickers recently. He wrote in his column in The Sunday Post:

"I watched Carter-Vickers in action for Tottenham’s reserves in a game against Liverpool, and he looked an excellent professional. His attitude was spot-on.I think the day before, he had been an unused sub for the first-team, but still travelled to Merseyside in an exemplary frame of mind."

Carter-Vickers can be an excellent signing for Celtic

It is safe to say that Carter-Vickers has the potential to be an excellent signing for the Hoops. He was very highly rated while coming through the ranks at Tottenham Hotspur and many believed that he could be a regular feature in their first-team for years to come.

Things did not quite go that way though. Carter-Vickers has made only a few appearances for the Tottenham Hotspur first-team till now. But he does have some solid experience under his belt having spent several spells on loan with multiple clubs in the English Championship over the years.

Thus, it will be interesting to see how he does at Parkhead. The United States international would be expected to bring some much needed solidity at the back to this side and might just be the kind of centre-back that they need at this point of time.
