Celtic made a number of signings in the recently concluded summer transfer window. While ten players arrived on permanent deals, two more arrived on season-long loans with the option to buy included in each of those deals.

Thus, it must be said that the club did a great job considering the massive squad rebuild that they were facing. Now, it will be interesting to see how the new signings perform over the course of the season.

One of the most interesting arrivals of the summer for the Hoops is Liam Scales, who was signed from Shamrock Rovers. He was one of the most highly-rated players in the League of Ireland and many believe that he is ready to be a regular in the Celtic first-team already.

It remains to be seen how it turns out for him at Parkhead, but things are certainly looking up for him at the moment. FA Ireland tweeted out that Liam Scales, Alan Browne and Callum Robinson have been called up to the national squad for the upcoming games against Azerbaijan and Serbia.

The young defender has not featured for the Republic of Ireland national team yet although he has made appearances at the youth levels. Many believed that he was not far away from getting the call-up after his impressive performances for Shamrock Rovers and it has finally happened.

Scales could certainly prove to be a solid signing for Ange Postecoglou’s side. His biggest attribute is arguably his consistency. He is the type of player who will put in a performance almost every game.

Secondly, his versatility can be an asset to the team as well. Scales is capable of playing at centre-back, left-back and left wing-back. It will be interesting to see where he features in Postecoglou’s side through the course of the season. One thing is for sure though, the future is looking bright for the 23-year-old.
