Celtic midfielder in brilliant form away on loan as he scores again

Celtic have sent out quite a few players away on loan this summer so that they can get regular playing time and continue their development as footballers. This is certainly the right way to approach things when it comes to youngsters and we have already seen the system do wonders for players like Callum McGregor in the past.

McGregor enjoyed a brilliant loan spell away at Notts County as a 20-year-old and it played a huge part in his development.

He has been a regular feature for the Hoops ever since returning from that loan spell. And now, it looks like another 20-year-old Celtic midfielder is making a name for himself away on loan.

Barry Coffey is currently on loan with Cork City FC in the League of Ireland First Division. And he is certainly making his presence felt there. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, with his goal against Athlone Town, he has now scored 4 goals in 6 appearances for the club.

The Celtic midfielder is enjoying a brilliant spell away on loan

It is safe to say that Coffey has been impressive till now and is showing his quality in the League of Ireland First Division for Cork City FC as they look to gain promotion back to the League of Ireland Premier Division.

Coffey’s loan spell with Cork City FC will run out at the end of their season, which runs till the end of October. As a result, it is certainly not a long spell away on loan but Coffey is certainly making the best of the opportunities that he has.

Coffey’s current deal at Parkhead runs till the summer of 2022 and thus it remains to be seen what the long-term future holds for him. But it is certainly promising to see him doing so well away on loan and it is possible that it could lead to a contract extension.
