Celtic signed Liam Scales from Shamrock Rovers in the recently concluded summer transfer window. The Irish defender has arrived at Parkhead with a lot of expectations as he was one of the best players in the League of Ireland before the move.
With defence being a worry for the club in recent times, many even believe that Scales is good enough to be a regular starter for Ange Postecoglou’s side. Only time will tell how things turn out regarding that.
It looks like the club already have their eyes set on a few more potential signings from the League of Ireland though. As reported by Independent, Celtic will have Sligo Rovers’ Johnny Kenny watched in their game against Drogheda United. The Hoops also have Drogheda United’s Killian Phillips on their radar as well.
Both of them are teenagers right now and appear to be players for the future rather than ones who can come in and immediately make an impact in the first-team, if the Hoops did end up signing them.

Celtic are coming off of an eventful summer transfer window
It is safe to say that the Hoops are coming off of an eventful transfer window. The club signed 10 players on a permanent basis while two more arrived on loan although an option to buy is included in both those deals.
Interestingly, all those signings were players who would be in or around the first-team picture, which is understandable considering the magnitude of the squad rebuild that was required at Parkhead in order to challenge for the Premiership title after finishing 25 points behind the Rangers last season.
Now though, it looks like the Hoops could be preparing to bring in players for the future and have a few on their radar already. It will also be interesting to see whether Scales’ performances at Parkhead end up playing a factor in the club’s decision to make potential moves for Kenny and Phillips in the future.
