Jack Hendry was not very impressive during his time at Celtic. As a result, he was sent out on loan to KV Oostende last summer, with an option to buy included in the deal.

Hendry managed to find his feet in the Belgian league though and emerged as one of the best defenders there. As a result, it did not come as a surprise when KV Oostende decided to take the option to buy and sign him this summer.

But it is not at KV Oostende that he will play his football this season. As it turns out, the defender is on the move again and Club Brugge have announced that they have signed Hendry.

This is good news for Celtic. As reported by The Scottish Sun, the club are set to receive an additional six-figure sum because of the transfer, as the Hoops had entered a sell-on clause in the loan with option to buy deal last summer.

Could Hendry have played a role at Celtic this season?

While Hendry did not enjoy a great time at Parkhead, he certainly developed as a player while away on loan at KV Oostende and was able to impress clubs around the Belgian league.

It will be interesting to see how the Scottish defender does this season. One has to wonder though, could he have played a role at the club this season, especially considering the lack of options in the heart of defence at the moment.

It is hard to say whether he would be a first-team player for Ange Postecoglou, but Hendry certainly could have had a role in the squad. Also, the Hoops could have gotten a bigger transfer fee for his departure this summer if there was no option to buy included in the loan deal with KV Oostende. What is done is done though and the eyes must now be towards the future.
