Transfer deadline day is always one of the most exciting and interesting dates on the football calendar. And this one has been no different when it comes to Celtic.

The club have signed Georgios Giakoumakis and Jota has arrived on loan, while Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie have departed the club. There have been a few loan exits as well. And it looks like there could be a late surprise from the club as well if everything falls into place.

Defence is an area on the pitch that the Hoops appear to be light on options at the moment. Could that change before the transfer window slams shut?

Paul Gilmour has tweeted out that Celtic and Tottenham Hotspur are attempting to agree a loan move for Cameron Carter-Vickers ahead of the midnight deadline in Scotland:

Will Celtic be able to pull off late loan deal for Carter-Vickers?

It will be interesting to see if the club can get things done this late in the transfer window. If they are able to, it will be a massive boost to Ange Postecoglou’s squad, which does not have a lot of depth at centre-back at this point of time.

While Carter-Vickers does not have a lot of experience playing for the Tottenham Hotspur first-team, he has represented several clubs in the Championship over the past few years. The 23-year-old has also represented the United States national team on multiple occasions. Thus, he could prove to be a solid addition to the Hoops if they are able to get a deal over the line for him.

He is one of the defenders that the club have been linked with for months now but could not get a deal done for him. But it looks like they have not given up hope completely even this late. If the club are able to pull off a deal for Carter-Vickers before the transfer window slams shut, they would have done a brilliant job.
