Celtic must make move for £3 million-rated Premiership star
By StevieMac
As the transfer window nears its end, the speculation surrounding late bids and moves from Celtic has increased, especially since rumours suggest that both Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie could be on their way out of the club.
They are two players who have been first-team regulars for a long time and the Hoops must replace if they leave.
Central midfield is an area on the pitch where some strengthening was needed anyway. That was visible from the Glasgow Derby at the weekend. Callum McGregor worked hard, but at the end of the day, the lack of an ‘engine’ style midfielder was a miss.
It is safe to say that the club have not signed a replacement for Scott Brown. Someone who can make tackles and break up play but also has the skill and ability to play a searching pass, link up with others and crop up with a goal at times. As a result, Ali McCann is someone the club should consider making a move for. As tweeted out by Alan Nixon, St Johnstone are looking for a transfer fee around £3 million for him:

Celtic must make McCann move
It is safe to say that McCann is a very different kind of midfielder to Christie but at this point of time, he might be the type of player that the Hoops need more than a creative midfielder.
While neither Tom Rogic nor David Turnbull have the work rate of Christie, they are definitely good while going forward with their creativity. On the other hand, the club do not seem to have anyone with the combination of qualities that McCann possesses.
At 21 years of age, McCann is still a youngster and will be expected to get better with experience. But he has already shown that he can perform at a high level, playing a major part in St Johnstone’s double last season.
It will be interesting to see what the club decide to do, considering we are quickly approaching the end of this transfer window. Time is certainly of the essence.
