Celtic have already made a number of signings this summer. Liam Shaw, Osaze Urhoghide, Liel Abada, Kyogo Furuhashi, Carl Starfelt, Joe Hart, James McCarthy, Josip Juranovic and Liam Scales have all arrived at Parkhead. But if today’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Rangers showed something, it is that this squad still needs quite a bit of work.

With the end of the transfer window approaching fast, the club will have to move quickly if they are to bring more players in. And it looks like they do have a double deal in sight.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Georgios Giakoumakis is undergoing a medical after agreeing a move from VVV-Venlo and Benfica are ready to give the green light for Jota to move to Scotland on a season-long loan with Celtic also expected to have a buy option.

Now, it remains to be seen if the club are able to get both the deals over the line but it certainly looks like things are close to happening.

Both could be good additions to this Celtic squad

On one hand, Giakoumakis will bring something very different to Postecoglou’s side. He finished as the top scorer in the Eredivisie last season and by quite some distance.

While his goalscoring record before the 2020/21 season is not impressive, at the end of the day, he showed last season that he can find the back of the net on a consistent basis at a high level.

The arrival of Jota might be even more exciting though considering the potential that he has. He has represented Portugal at multiple youth levels over the years and has an excellent record for those sides, but he has not quite managed to find his feet in senior football till now.

Jota is a very smooth dribbler of the ball and likes to take his man on. He also had a great goalscoring record at youth level and certainly knows the way to the back of the net. Now, it is all about if he can show that in the senior game.
