Former Celtic player makes exciting Josip Juranovic claim
By Nathan Dunn
While Celtic named Ange Postecoglou as their new manager quite late in the summer, the Hoops have ended up having a very productive transfer window after all.
The club had already brought in players like Kyogo Furuhashi, Liel Abada, Joe Hart, Liam Shaw, Osaze Urhoghide, James McCarthy and Carl Starfelt before they ended up signing Croatian international, Josip Juranovic, as well. The club were believed to have been looking to sign a right-back for a while and a deal is finally over the line.
The timing of this move, which came between the first and second leg of a tight play-off tie, was certainly a bit surprising. Last week, Juranovic had scored a goal to help Legia Warsaw to a 2-2 draw in the first leg of their Europa League play-off tie against Slavia Praha. Ultimately though, Legia Warsaw ended up going through to the group stage despite his absence.
Former Celtic player, Dariusz Dziekanowski, also known simply as Jacki, who had himself departed Legia Warsaw to join the Glasgow giants during his playing career gave his take on Juranovic’s move earlier. As reported by the Daily Record, he said:
"“I cannot come to terms with a couple of things here. Why on earth did Legia not negotiate with Celtic so he could play against Slavia in the Europa League second leg?“If Juranovic was a player for Dinamo Zagreb, for example, Celtic would have paid a lot more for him – probably three times what they gave Legia for him.”"

Juranovic could be an excellent signing for Celtic
The Hoops are believed to have signed Juranovic for a transfer fee around £2.5 million. That does seem like a bargain transfer fee for a player with his qualities and someone who has already represented the Croatia national team on multiple occasions.
This is not the only excellent signing that the club might have done this summer though. Kyogo and Abada have both already made their mark at Parkhead, and appear to have established themselves in the first-team.
Of course, Juranovic will still need to prove himself. He will need to get ahead of Anthony Ralston in the right-back pecking order, who has put in some tremendous performances this season and has appeared to be the club’s best defender at times.
