Ange Postecoglou made a mistake

Postecoglou must be commended for the football that the Hoops have played out the past several weeks. It has been a joy to watch for sure.

But at times, one needs to take a cautious approach to games. This might have been one of those games, where it might not have been a good idea to play a midfield of Callum McGregor, Tom Rogic and David Turnbull.

While all three are supremely talented, as a trio it does not appear to be the best when it comes to the defensive side of things. And AZ Alkmaar are a very capable side.

Thus, Postecoglou should have probably gone with a different combination in the middle of the park with a bit more defensive stability, which would have made things much more easier in this game.

Christopher Jullien’s return can’t come soon enough

Jullien has been out of action for a while now. And it is safe to say that the Hoops could certainly do with a player like him at this point of time.

Celtic have not looked the same defensively ever since Jullien has been on the sidelines. His presence at the back appears to be something that they are missing at the moment.

Fans will certainly be hoping that Jullien is back on the pitch as soon as possible. He might very well be the best defender at the club right now.

They have also been linked with a move for Shamrock Rover’s Liam Scales. And the 23-year-old could very possibly be a solid addition to the Hoops’ defence as well. Now, it remains to be seen how things turn out, both regarding the club’s rumoured pursuit of Scales as well as Jullien’s return to action, hopefully in the near future.
