It is safe to say that several players have rediscovered their form ever since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as the manager of Celtic. One of the players who appears to have completely turned things around is Ryan Christie.

The Scottish international did not have a good 2020/21 campaign but looks back to his best this season. He might even be the club’s most important player at this point of time.

On the other hand, Odsonne Edouard is also someone who has not been at top of his game in recent times. But he has scored a few times in recent weeks. One would hope that that will provide him the confidence boost he needs to rediscover his form.

Their contracts are set to run out soon though. Christie’s contract is believed to be set to run out in the middle of the season while Edouard is in the final 12 months of his current deal as well and will be a free agent next summer. As a result, both have been linked with Parkhead exits recently. Postecoglou appears to be happy to have the duo at the club as long as they continue to contribute for the team though. While speaking on Celtic’s official YouTube channel and as reported by 67 Hail Hail, the manager said:

"“What I will do is treat everyone as if they are a part of this football club as long as they are. And provided they show the commitment to what we want to do.“I think Ryan and Odsonne have been outstanding in that [regard]. You can’t tell me that they look like players who don’t want to be here. Irrespective of what their immediate future holds, is that they’re contributing every day. Not just in games, in training.“If that continues, I’d be delighted to keep them for as long as they want to stay here. But the same time, they’re all masters of their own future, their own sort of destinies, I think it’s important that they make these decisions that are good for themselves.”"

Postecoglou has commented on the Celtic duo’s future at the club

It goes without saying that when on the top of their games, Edouard and Christie are two of the best players that Celtic have.

Neither of them were at their best last season though. But this time around, the improvement in both of their performances has been there for all to see. Now, it remains to be seen what the future holds for them.

There have been some suggestions that Christie could be open to the idea of extending his contract with the Hoops. On the other hand, Edouard continues to be linked with a summer exit but some rumours have suggested that he might end up staying for the season and leave as a free agent next summer.
