Ryan Christie has made a brilliant start to the 2021/22 season and looks like a perfect fit in Ange Postecoglou’s style of football. It is arguable that he could be Celtic’s most important player at this point of time, considering how effective he is on both the attacking and defensive side of things, and the energy he brings every time he takes to the pitch.
Christie’s contract with the club is expected to run out soon though and as a result, his future is up in the air at the moment.
Southampton are a club that he has been linked with in recent times. But it looks like a move to the St Mary’s Stadium might not be on the cards for the Scottish international.
Regarding the Christie to Southampton situation, Alex Crook tweeted out:
Told #SaintsFC have no interest in #Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie. Also no substance to rumours linking Stuart Armstrong the other way.

Christie has been absolutely brilliant for Celtic this season
It is safe to say that Christie did not have a great 2020/21 campaign. But then, not many players at the club did as they finished 25 points behind the Rangers in the Scottish Premiership table and without a trophy.
This season though, he has looked like a completely different player and appears to be back to his best. The arrival of Postecoglou as manager appears to have certainly played a part in that and his system appears to complement Christie’s strengths.
As a result, most fans would probably be hoping right now that Christie ends up extending his contract with the Hoops and staying with the club. It remains to be seen how things unfold regarding that. There have been some rumours recently though which have suggested that the player might be open to the prospect of signing a new contract with the club.
Keeping Christie would prove to be a huge boost for Celtic. He has shown that at his best, he is a brilliant player. And at 26 years of age, he is entering his prime as a footballer.
