Celtic have made two signings this summer who have made an instant impact since arriving at Parkhead. Those two are Liel Abada and Kyogo Furuhashi. Both have been brilliant, but Kyogo has been especially impressive since this has been his first taste of European club football.

The 26-year-old is the club’s third-ever Japanese player after Shunsuke Nakamura and Koki Mizuno.

Nakamura, who had a brilliant career at Parkhead, is now 43 years of age and still plays in the J League for Yokohama FC. Throughout the course of his time at the club, the Japanese star made a name for himself for his brilliant goals, some of which are still talked about today. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 31 goals and provided 36 assists in 145 appearances for Celtic.

Thus, he will know about being successful in Scottish football. And as reported by The Scottish Sun, Nakamura appeared to suggest that Kyogo could get even better moving forward as those around him become more accustomed to Postecoglou’s style of football:

"“Right now he knows Ange’s football style more than the other Celtic players.“But when the rest of them understand Ange’s tactics more, that will work better for Kyogo as well.”"

Kyogo has made a sensational start to life at Celtic

Nakamura has played against Kyogo during their time together in the J1 League. The club’s new signing used to play for Vissel Kobe before his move to Parkhead this summer.

When the club signed the Japanese star, there were some doubts whether he could adjust to the Scottish game. It is safe to say that he has made that adjustment very well. In fact, he has been brilliant in his first few games in the Premiership and with more experience, one would hope that he can get even better.

While he might not be a physical presence in the box, his movement is terrific and he possesses the speed to leave defenders behind and make a lot of space for himself. We have already seen him do that on multiple occasions and hopefully he will continue to do so in the future as well.
