It goes without saying that Celtic have been very active in the summer transfer window, bringing in a number of players and strengthening the Hoops’ squad significantly.

The results have been visible on the pitch recently. The club have won six games on the trot while playing some outstanding football which has seen them outscore their opponents 24 to 4 over these six games. That is an incredible record, especially when you consider that not too long ago, it was looking like the club could struggle for form this season as well.

Of course, Ange Postecoglou deserves a lot of credit for that. But it must be said that we are still very early in the season and one cannot read too much into these results. It will probably take a couple of months before we know where this team really is.

It does look like the club are still trying to make a few more signings before the transfer window closes. One player who could very possibly be on his way to Parkhead soon is Shamrock Rovers’ Liam Scales. And if they can get a deal for the defender over the line, he could prove to be one of the most important additions to this team of the summer.

Scales has been heavily linked with a move to Celtic this summer

Scales has emerged as one of the most exciting talents playing in the League of Ireland. He has been a very consistent performer for Shamrock Rovers and has been linked with several clubs in the English Premier League, Championship and League One.

But recent rumours have suggested that it is Celtic where he might be headed to this summer and in that case, it could be a massive addition for the club.

Scales is incredibly versatile, capable of playing at left wing-back, left-back and centre-back. These are all positions that Postecoglou could do with another option in. Thus, someone like Scales could help fill the gap in multiple positions in the squad.

It might be another option at left-back that is more urgently needed than at centre-back, considering Boli Bolingoli is yet to play a single minute of football this season.
