It is safe to say that Ryan Christie did not have a brilliant 2020/21 campaign. But he has looked like a different player ever since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou and is playing arguably his best football in a Celtic shirt at the moment.

With his contract running down quickly, most fans would be hoping that the club can find a way to extend his stay at Parkhead because the Scottish international has been absolutely brilliant this season.

As a result, him picking up a knock recently was a major blow to Postecoglou’s side. His presence is certainly very important in this style of football, both on and off the ball. He ended up missing the recent games against Hearts and AZ Alkmaar. But now, it looks like Christie might be set to return to action soon.

While speaking about the situation surrounding Christie, as reported by Glasgow Times, Postecoglou said:

"“Ryan Christie has trained the last couple of days, so he’s available.”"

Christie returning would be an incredible boost for Celtic

Things are certainly looking up for Postecoglou’s side at the moment. They have won their last five games on the trot, playing some incredible football in the process of doing so and outscoring their opponents 18 to 4. And it is arguable that they could have scored more.

At the moment, the Hoops certainly look like a better team with Christie in the line up. Thus, his return from injury would be a massive boost.

What will be a worry though is his long-term Parkhead future. Christie is believed to be in the last few months of his current deal with the club and looks set to become a free agent soon.

Let’s just hope that he ends up signing a contract extension with the club and remaining at Parkhead. Some recent rumours have suggested that he is open to the possibility of it, which sounds very promising.
