Celtic have certainly shown tremendous improvement over the past few weeks. But there are still some areas in the squad which need reinforcements if Ange Postecoglou’s side are to keep up these performances through the course of the season and challenge for the Scottish Premiership title this time around.
At the beginning of the campaign many felt that right-back was the area where the Hoops needed to make immediate additions in. But after Anthony Ralston’s brilliant displays recently and a move for Josip Juranovic looking close as well, it might be one of the club’s strongest positions on the pitch.
Instead, it might be at centre-back and left-back where they are a bit short of options right now. But it is possible that they could fill the need in both those positions with one signing.
Shamrock Rovers’ Liam Scales has been heavily linked with a move to Parkhead in recent weeks. The 23-year-old is capable of playing at both centre-back and at left wing-back. And as tweeted out by journalist Barry Anderson, a Celtic deal should go through in the next few days:

Scales appears set to join Celtic soon
Scales is one of the most highly-rated players currently in the League of Ireland and many believe that he has the potential to come in and immediately become a first-team regular in Postecoglou’s side.
He has certainly been very consistent for Shamrock Rovers during his time at the club and become one of their most important players.
A move to Parkhead does not seem to be far away in his future though and it will be interesting to see how he does there if the move does go through. His versatility would be very attractive to any club and he has been linked with English Premier League, Championship and League One sides in the recent past as well.
