Celtic appear to have made a number of solid additions in this summer transfer window. One of them is Kyogo Furuhashi. The Japanese star has been absolutely sensational ever since coming in and looks like he has the potential to be one of the best players in the Scottish Premiership.
But other than him, the club’s other strikers do not appear to be in great form at the moment. Odsonne Edouard has looked out of form for a while now and has been linked with a summer exit as well. On the other hand, neither Albian Ajeti nor Leigh Griffiths have impressed recently.
As a result, it should not come as a surprise if the club do decide to make a move for another striker over the next couple of weeks and one player whose name has cropped up recently is that of VVV-Venlo’s Georgios Giakoumakis. And it looks like his agent has confirmed the Scottish giants’ interest in signing the player.
As reported by VoetbalPrimeur (via 67 Hail Hail), when asked about Celtic’s interest, Giannis Emmanouilidis said:
"“That’s right, but I can’t say more about it, we’re looking at all options.”"

Would Giakoumakis be a good signing for Celtic?
Giakoumakis had a brilliant 2020/21 campaign. He was the top scorer in the Eredivisie last season and by quite some distance with 26 goals to his name. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 29 goals and provided 2 assists in 33 appearances across all competitions for VVV-Venlo.
But despite his performances, VVV-Venlo were relegated from the Eredivisie last season and as a result, it is likely that Giakoumakis will depart the club over the summer.
Werder Bremen are also believed to be interested in the striker. Recent rumours have suggested that a transfer fee around £2.5 million could be enough to secure Giakoumakis’ signature.
While the idea of signing the Eredivisie’s top scorer is very exciting, his goal scoring record before the previous campaign was not great. At 26 years of age though, he is entering his prime as a footballer and has shown that in the right system, he can find the back of the net consistently.
