Things are looking up for Celtic at the moment. After a difficult start to the campaign, they appear to have found their rhythm and adjusted to Ange Postecoglou’s style of football. The recent results have certainly been impressive.

The Hoops have won their last four games and while playing some brilliant football. But as we know, things can change very quickly in football and it will be important for Postecoglou’s side to win their Europa League play-off tie against AZ Alkmaar.

Heading into the game, Postecoglou’s side will be the underdogs. But their recent form has provided some hope that they can spring a surprise and making it to the group stage of the Europa League by beating AZ Alkmaar over the two legs.

The Hoops have a major worry heading into the game though. As reported by Glasgow Times, Ryan Christie has been ruled out of the club’s Europa League qualifier against AZ Alkmaar on Wednesday. There is some positive news as well though as Liel Abada will be available.

Christie being ruled out is a massive blow for Celtic

Christie has been in brilliant form this season. After a disappointing 2020/21 campaign, the Scottish international seems back to his best and has been playing some of the best football of his career recently.

It is arguable that he has been the club’s best player ever since the arrival of Postecoglou and Christie looks like a perfect fit in this style of football. As a result, it goes without saying that his absence will be a major blow for the Hoops and will make their task even more difficult against AZ Alkmaar.

On the other hand, the return of Abada will be a boost for Postecoglou’s side. The youngster has arrived this summer and immediately made an impact on the team. He is a very effective player and it looks like he has a goal or an assist in him all the time. Thus, him becoming available could be very important in what could be a very tight tie with AZ Alkmaar.
