While Celtic have made a number of additions to their squad over the course of the current summer transfer window, it is clear that signings are still needed in a few more positions if they are to challenge for trophies this season.

The Hoops have looked absolutely brilliant under the management of Ange Postecoglou recently. They have been a joy to watch going forward. The club have won four games on the trot and have outscored their opponents 16 to 4 in these games.

Thus, it goes without saying that things are looking up at the moment. But there are still a few worries at the back as Postecoglou’s side have not looked as strong defensively as they have on the other end of the pitch.

Thus, it might be at the back where more signings are needed at the moment. And it looks like a move for Shamrock Rovers’ Liam Scales might not be far away. As reported by the Irish Mirror, Scales is Celtic-bound by the end of the month as he prepares to complete his move to Parkhead.

Scales looks set for a Celtic move this summer

Scales could be a solid addition to this squad. He has been very impressive during his time at Shamrock Rovers and is one of the brightest prospects currently playing in the League of Ireland.

He is capable of playing as a centre-back as well as a left wing-back and has done well in both roles for Shamrock Rovers. Thus, his versatility could be a massive asset to a side like the Hoops who need to make an addition on the left flank as well as in the heart of their defence right now.

Now, it remains to be seen if the club can get a deal for Scales over the line. Several other clubs are believed to be interested in signing the 23-year-old defender as well.
