It is safe to say that Ryan Christie has been in sensational form ever since the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as the Celtic manager and he might very well be the most important part of this team right now.
In the previous campaign, he looked out of form. But this season, he looks back to his very best and is arguably playing some of the best football of his career right now.
As a result, some eyebrows were raised when Christie was left out of the matchday squad against Hearts in the Scottish League Cup. With his current deal set to run out soon, there has been a lot of speculation about his future in recent times.
Naturally, one had to wonder whether him being left out of the matchday squad had something to do with his Parkhead future. But that was not the case. While speaking with BBC and as reported by The Scottish Sun, Postecoglou said:
"“He got a bit of a knock the other night and just pulled up sore.“We’re in the middle of a pretty tough schedule and these things will happen.“So it was best for us to leave him out today.”"

Christie was left out of Celtic’s matchday squad due to a knock
Christie is a very important member of this team at the moment and the Hoops must do their best to keep him at Parkhead for the foreseeable future. Thus, one would be hoping that the Scottish international ends up signing a contract extension with the Hoops.
Also, hopefully the knock is not anything serious and he is back to full fitness as quickly as possible. In that regard, it was definitely the right decision to leave him out of the matchday squad against Hearts.
At the end of the day, Postecoglou’s side ended up walking out of the game with a 3-2 win against Hearts with Odsonne Edouard, Kyogo Furuhashi and Stephen Welsh getting the goals for the Hoops. Now, they will be facing Raith Rovers in the quarter-final of the Scottish League Cup.
