Gordon Strachan opens up about his new role at Celtic
It is safe to say that Gordon Strachan enjoyed a lot of success at Celtic as manager. He guided the club to several titles during his four-year stay at Parkhead.
Since then, he has gone on to manage Middlesbrough and the Scotland national team, and is now out of management.
He last managed back in 2017, although that did not stop rumours from linking him with the Parkhead job even last season, when Neil Lennon departed the club in the middle of the campaign.
Strachan is now set to make a return to Parkhead but in a very different role. He will be joining the club in a 3-month consultancy role and will look at the activities within the football academy, the Women’s Team and the newly established B Team, and will be providing recommendations to Dom McKay on how to develop in these areas even further moving forward. As reported by the club’s official website, speaking about his new role, Strachan said:
"“I am really looking forward to returning to the Club to assist in these areas. The development of young players and seeing them improve and grow is a real passion for me and I will do anything I can to support the Club in these areas.“Great people at Celtic always do great work. I look forward to building on this work, liaising with Dom and all our Celtic colleagues once again and hope we can work together for the benefit of the Club and these teams so they ultimately can develop further and bring Celtic success.“I also look forward to continuing my work at Dundee FC where I have established a great working relationship and close bond with the Manager, Managing Director, staff and coaches.”"

Strachan is set to return to Celtic in new role
Someone with the experience of Strachan could certainly prove to be effective in this kind of a role. He has top level experience as a player as well as a manager.
In recent years, we have seen that a number of the club’s youth academy stars have not been able to make the jump to the first-team. Quite a few highly-rated youngsters have even left to join some of the biggest clubs in Europe. Thus, it is an area that the club must have an eye on.
The newly established B Team and the Women’s Team, who achieved Champions League status this year for the very first time, are also important. And thus, it is promising to see that the club want to improve in these areas further and have brought in someone like Strachan to help in that regard.
