Right-back is a position that Celtic are believed to be looking to strengthen in over the course of this summer transfer window. As a result, they have been linked with several players who can play there over the course of the last few months. One of them is Independiente’s Fabricio Bustos.

Now, it must be said that Anthony Ralston has done very well over the past few weeks and looks like a player transformed in Ange Postecoglou’s style of football. The 22-year-old right-back has even scored a couple of brilliant goals.

But beyond him, there is a lack of depth, as Ralston is the only recognised right-back in the squad right now. As a result, the Hoops would be expected to bring in another player capable of playing there before the transfer window shuts.

Bustos is certainly a very interesting name that the club have been linked with. The Independiente right-back has represented the Argentina national team on a few occasions and could be a brilliant addition to Postecoglou’s side. But it looks like the Hoops have been handed a transfer blow in that regard. As reported by Glasgow Live, following Independiente’s win over Racing Club, Bustos said:

"“We created various situations and we left our souls on the pitch to give people this joy.“The club asks that we fight for the championship. We are going to give everything to try to crown ourselves.”"

Celtic handed Bustos transfer blow

It goes without saying that Bustos might be a solid signing for the Hoops. He is certainly a player who has the pedigree to succeed at Parkhead.

The 25-year-old has represented the Argentina national team and is a key member of Independiente’s squad, one of the best clubs in Argentina.

But his recent comments do suggest that he is not thinking about leaving at the moment and has his sights set on winning the championship with Independiente. The Argentine Primera Division ends on 12th December of this year.

Of course, things can change very quickly in football and it remains to be seen what the future holds. It must also be pointed that Aurelio Buta is another right-back who has been heavily linked with a move to Parkhead in recent times.
