Odsonne Edouard’s Celtic future has been subject to much speculation for a while now. As you would expect he has been heavily linked with a transfer exit this summer, with him entering the final year of his current deal at Parkhead. And there are signs that a move away might not be far away.

Before this transfer window, most of the rumours were about Edouard moving to Leicester City to reunite with Brendan Rodgers. That move did not materialise though and the French striker is still at the club.

Brighton & Hove Albion have been linked with Edouard for a while now. But it looks like they have some competition in the race for his signature.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Southampton are set to compete with Brighton & Hove Albion for Edouard by making a £20 million swoop for the striker.

Is Edouard set to depart Celtic this summer?

On top form, Edouard is perhaps the best player in Scottish football right now and might very well have attracted transfer bids over £20 million a few seasons ago. His lack of form in recent times along with the fact that he is in the final year of his current deal means that that is unlikely to be the case this summer.

The transfer exit saga surrounding Edouard has dragged on for a while and needs to come to a conclusion soon. He looks out of form at the moment and as a result, letting him leave might not be a bad decision especially considering his contract situation.

Ange Postecoglou took the decision to start with Kyogo Furuhashi at striker against FK Jablonec in midweek and the Japanese star found the back of the net. As a result, it would not surprising if Edouard starts on the bench against Dundee as well.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the French striker. Whether he will depart this summer or not will become clear soon. There have been highs and lows through the course of his time at Parkhead. But if he does end up leaving, it is best to remember the young Frenchman for the time when we all wanted to be Edouard.
