Right-back is a position that Celtic are expected to be looking to strengthen in over the course of this summer transfer window. At this point of time, Anthony Ralston is the only recognised right-back in Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

Now, it must be said that Ralston has done quite well in his recent performances. But even then, the club must sign another right-back this summer considering the lack of depth in the position.

And it appears that they have an Argentine right-back on their radar, who has played for the national team as well.

As reported by Homme du Match (via Daily Record), Celtic are believed to be in pole position to sign Fabricio Bustos with Independiente looking for a transfer fee of a little more than €4 million.

Celtic linked with move for Argentine right-back

Bustos has represented the Argentina national team on a few occasions, thus there is no doubt that he is a good player.

His versatility is also something that could attract the Hoops as Bustos is capable of playing at right-back as well as right midfield if the situation calls for it.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 3 goals and provided 15 assists in 154 appearances for Independiente till now.

He is not an aerial threat in either box though and that is something that the Hoops must think about, especially considering the fact that that has been a worry for the club for a while now already. Another thing to consider is how the Argentine would fit into Postecoglou’s style of football.

Overall though, Bustos could be a solid addition to the squad if the Hoops are able to get a deal over the line for him.

It is worth pointing out that he is not the only right-back being linked with the club at the moment, with Aurelio Buta believed to be another player who the club are interested in signing this summer.
