It is safe to say that Kyogo Furuhashi has arrived at Celtic with a lot of expectations. The Japanese international was brilliant in the J1 League and the fans will be hoping that he can show that form in Scottish football as well.

He has certainly made a good start. Furuhashi scored in the club’s 4-2 win over FK Jablonec in the first leg of their Europa League third qualifying round tie. This was his first start for the Hoops and it should certainly excite fans about things to come in the future.

Efficiency in front of goal has been an issue for the club for quite a while now. They have struggled to put away the chances that they have created in recent times. Furuhashi is someone who certainly knows his way to the back of the net though.

There has been some debate with regards to the position that he will play in this team. The Japanese star is capable of playing as a striker as well as a left-winger. He started the game against FK Jablonec at striker though and it looks that is where Postecoglou might want him to play moving forward. While speaking with BBC Sportsound and as reported by the Daily Record, the manager said:

"“He’s a threat. He’s quick, he’s got really intelligent movement and he’s a good finisher as you saw today.“There were a couple of moments where he made some good runs and we couldn’t find him.“But with his pace and movement he can provide a different option for us through the middle.“All three front guys scored today which was pleasing and they all had different moments in the game where they did well.”"

Furuhashi can prove to be a brilliant signing for Celtic

While it might be too early, the signs are certainly positive coming out of the FK Jablonec game, when it comes to Furuhashi.

He certainly has the attributes to succeed in Postecoglou’s style of football and a goal in his first start for the club will do him a world of good. With Odsonne Edouard being linked with a Parkhead exit and looking out of form, Furuhashi could very well be the club’s first-choice number 9 this season if he can continue to perform.

Another new signing who has been impressing since moving to Parkhead is Liel Abada. It looks like the youngster has a natural instinct in front of goal and if he can continue to play like this, he will score a lot this season.
