Celtic’s 4-2 win away from home against FK Jablonec in the first leg of their third qualifying round tie of the Europa League is a massive boost for the club. The Hoops had lost four of their last five games including pre-season, so this should provide the team with some confidence.

Summer signings, Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada, both got on the scoresheet. The other two goals were scored by James Forrest and Ryan Christie.

It was not a perfect performance and there are still a lot of areas to work on. While they looked very good going forward, defence remains a worry for the club and this tie is far from over. The Hoops will need to turn up in the return leg to secure qualification to the next round.

It is clear that more signings are needed. And Ange Postecoglou had an exciting update regarding this. While speaking to BBC Sportsound and as reported by 67 Hail Hail, the manager said:

"“I don’t want to put timelines on it, because we’re working on things. There certainly will be additions. I still think we need to bring in some reinforcements, we still don’t have a lot of depth in certain areas.“Some players are just playing every game because I just don’t have alternatives at the moment. At some point, that’s going to take its toll, because we’ve got a lot of games, particularly through August. So we still need to bring players in.“Timelines are a bit difficult because of the situation we’re in. I’m hopeful that sort of, next week, we’ll have at least a couple more players in.”"

Celtic still working on bringing in new players

It is good to see that things are being worked on and more additions are expected soon. They are certainly needed since there is a lack of depth in a number of positions in this squad at the moment.

Anthony Ralston has played well in recent games and deserves a lot of credit but at the moment he is the only recognised right-back in the squad. Left-back and centre-back are two other positions that Postecoglou could do with another option in.

The club have made a number of additions this summer already though and the performances of Furuhashi and Abada against FK Jablonec were very promising.

Abada has looked good from the very start and appears to be someone who has natural instincts in front of goal and will score a lot. This was Furuhashi’s first start but it should have been enough to excite the fans about what is to come.
