With two more players signed this week, the Celtic squad looks healthier. But there are more signings needed at Parkhead and could they end up signing someone they have been linked with for a long time now?

Back at the start of the year, it looked like the Hoops were favourites to sign then Preston North End defender, Ben Davies. A pre-contract agreement did not seem far away and appeared to be only a matter of time. But then very late in the winter transfer window, Liverpool swooped in to sign Davies on a permanent deal.

You can understand why Davies decided to move to Anfield. It looked likely that he would get game time for the Premier League giants at that point, since a number of their defenders were out injured.

It is safe to say that that did not turn out to be the case and Davies is yet to make a competitive appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side. And now with their injured defenders returning to action, it looks like Davies might be on his way out of Anfield soon

Could Davies to Celtic be on again?

As reported by GOAL, Liverpool are ready to let Davies leave on loan this summer with the player keen to play regular football this season. Sheffield United are believed to be leading the race for his signature at the moment.

But as tweeted out by journalist Ekrem Konur, Sheffield United, Celtic and Bournemouth are all in talks with Liverpool regarding a loan move for Davies.

It is clear that the Hoops could still do with another option in the heart of their defence. But having already signed Carl Starfelt and Osaze Urhoghide this summer, a loan move might make a lot of sense for the Hoops as well. And one would hope that considering how close he was believed to be to signing a pre-contract agreement with the club at that start of the year, Parkhead would still be an attractive destination for Davies. He could certainly be a solid addition to Postecoglou’s squad.
