Goalkeeping has been a worry for Celtic for quite some time now. Vasilis Barkas, Scott Bain and Conor Hazard have all had runs with the first-team gloves in recent times but none of them have quite managed to make the position their own.

There were expectations that Barkas would find his feet in Scottish football this season after a difficult debut campaign last time around. But after a bright start to pre-season, the goalkeeper has made a few mistakes in his past couple of appearances.

As a result, Bain appears to be ahead of him in the pecking order at the moment but it does look like the Hoops are looking to bring in a new goalkeeper soon. That man is Joe Hart.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Hart is to undergo a medical at Celtic on Tuesday ahead of agreeing a move on a three year contract.

Hart looks set for Celtic move

At 34 years of age, Hart would not be expected to be a long-term solution for the club. But the three year contract does appear to suggest that the Hoops see him as their goalkeeper for the foreseeable future.

At this point of time, Hart has not been a regular starter for a team for a few years. But he does have a lot of top level experience and on top of his game, he is a brilliant goalkeeper.

Thus, if he can rediscover his form at Parkhead, he could prove to be a solid signing for the Hoops. Hart is a commanding presence in the box and possesses good reflexes, which is the kind of goalkeeper that they might need at this point of time. He is not known for his ability to play the ball out from the back though, which could be a worry in Ange Postecoglou’s style of football.
