Celtic have to strengthen in a number of positions over the course of the next few weeks if they are to challenge for the Premiership title this season. And left-back is a position that Ange Postecoglou could do with another option in.

At the moment, the club have two options there in the form of Greg Taylor and Boli Bolingoli. But neither of the two have been very impressive during their respective times at Parkhead.

It is safe to say that the Hoops have not managed to replace Kieran Tierney ever since he left to join Arsenal in the summer of 2019. And one player that they have been linked with recently is Hibernian’s Josh Doig.

The 19-year-old left-back has been very impressive in recent times and has been linked with several clubs. The likes of Celtic, Arsenal, Chelsea and many others are believed to be interested in his signature. And Hibernian manager, Jack Ross, expects Doig to leave soon. As reported by Sky Sports, he said:

"“My understanding is that it is highly likely Josh will move from the club.“We have to prepare for that eventuality – it looks like that will happen soon.“There has been strong interest, that I think the club are trying to finalise this week, one way or another.”"

Could Celtic sign Doig this summer?

While the Hoops have been linked with a move for Doig over the course of the summer, there have not been too many rumours over the past few days or weeks. Thus, it remains to be seen whether they can sign him.

As we have seen with the move for Kyogo Furuhashi recently, the club can pull off a transfer surprise. And thus, a move for Doig might not be off the table yet.

But while the Hoops could do with one more option at left-back, there are other positions in the team that might need reinforcements more urgently. Right-back comes to mind, considering Anthony Ralston is the only recognised right-back in the squad at the moment. Thus, it would certainly be a bit of an out of the blue move if they end up signing Doig this summer.
