It was a disappointing result midweek for Celtic. Defeated at the hands of FC Midtjylland, they went out of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers at an early stage again.

Odsonne Edouard is someone who failed to impress on the night. It was a disappointing performance from the Frenchman. We all know what he is capable of when at the top of his game. But he has not been at his best for a while now.

The striker has been linked with a Parkhead exit for quite some time. And it remains to be seen if it happens this summer, with him being in the final 12 months of his contract. Brighton & Hove Albion are a side who are believed to be interested in the striker and recent rumours have suggested that they might be about to make a transfer bid soon.

But then, there have been other rumours that that might not be the case after all. Andy Naylor has tweeted out that neither an offer nor even an inquiry has been made when it comes to Edouard and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Edouard’s potential Celtic exit appears to be in doubt

There’s a pretty big question mark over Edouard’s exit this summer. And it does feel like there is a possibility that he could remain at the club for the season despite there being just a year left on his current deal.

Of course, that could be a worry for the Hoops. Edouard is rated at over £15 million at the moment but he will become a free agent next summer. Thus, it might possibly be best for both the club and the player to part ways in this transfer window.

A number of clubs have been linked with the French striker over the past year or so. Now, it remains to be seen if any of them make a move for him this summer.
